Snickerdoodles



1 cup soft shortening (part butter)
2 eggs
2 tsp. cream of tarter
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. soda
Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs. Sift together and stir in flour, cream of tarter, soda, and salt. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake until lightly browned, but still soft, at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
