Homemade Won Tons

1 package Won Ton wrappers (I used Nasoya brand found in the produce section)
1 package cream cheese (softened)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder

Preheat oil on the stove or deep fryer. Make sure it is hot enough (read for heat specifications on the won ton package.) In the meantime, mix the cream cheese and garlic and onion powder together until smooth. You can add more garlic or onion powder to your liking if needed. Put a dollop of the cream cheese mixture in the middle of the won ton wrapper and fold in half. Wet the ends of the wrapper with either water or egg whites and press ends together with fingers or a fork. Deep fry until they start to turn golden. Pair with beef and broccoli and chow mein.

(Thank you Brianna Henderson for the idea!)

Homemade Chow Mein

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 TBSP brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2-3 TBSP vegetable oil
  • 3 (5.6 oz) packages refrigerated Yaki Soba noodles (found in the produce section of the grocery store.. usually the 3 packages are sold together in one 17oz. pack)
  • 2/3 cup chopped celery (chopped diagonally)
  • 1 medium-sized onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups chopped cabbage
In a small bowl combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and black pepper. Set aside.
Remove Yaki Soba from packages and discard included flavoring packets. Rinse noodles well, drain, and set aside.
Heat oil in a large wok or skillet. Add celery and onion and saute for about 1-2 minutes or until onions start to become soft and transparent. Add cabbage and saute an additional minute or so.
Toss Yaki Soba noodles and soy sauce mixture with the vegetables over medium-high heat for an additional 2-3 minutes or until noodles are heated through.
Pair with beef and broccoli and homemade won tons.

Jalapeno Poppers

1 package cream cheese, softened
1 package bacon
8-12 jalapenos

Depending on how hot your want your jalapeno poppers, cut them in half and cut out the seeds and the membrane if you want them mild. If you want some kick leave some of the membrane. Spoon in cream cheese to fill the jalapeno. I usually cut the bacon in half and wrap each jalapeno with bacon. Cook for 15-20 minutes at 400. If they don't look crisp enough after that time broil them for a few more minutes until the bacon is crisp. This is a great appetizer or finger food for football games, game night, etc. Enjoy!

Homemade Lemonade

(Picture from Google images)

This is a copycat recipe for Chick-fil-a's lemonade. It's so easy and so refreshing! Enjoy!

8-10 lemons (enough juice to make a cup and a half)
1 cup sugar or 1/2 artificial sweetener for the diet version
5 1/2 cups water

Juice lemons until you have around a cup and a half of juice. Add sugar and juice to a pitcher then add luke warm water. Stir together and refrigerate until cold. Note-if you are using artificial sweetnener add a half a cup at first then add more to your taste if desired.

Cheese Ball

2 1/2 packages cream cheese
2 TBSP crumbled blue cheese
1 Jar of Old English
2 TBSP green onions
1 TBSP Worsteshire Sauce
1 TBSP Accent
1 tsp. sugar
Chopped up pecans

First off, if you're like me, I hate hate hate blue cheese, but don't let the small amount in this recipe scare you. You can't even tell. Trust me, I wouldn't eat it if I could taste it!

Soften cream cheese. In a medium mixing bowl add together 2 packages of cream cheese, Old English, green onions, worsteshire sauce, Accent (this is a spice, found in the spice isle, it is it's own brand), and sugar. Mix together with hand mixer. In a seperate bowl add the remaining 1/2 package cream cheese and the crumbled blue cheese. Mix together until farely smooth. Add the blue cheese mixture to the main mixture. Refridgerate a few hours so that it becomes firm enough to roll into balls. Roll into balls and coat outside with chopped up pecans. Again refridgerate. Eat with crackers or triscuits. Enjoy!
