Orange lemon jello salad

2 small boxes orange jello mix
1 large package lemon cook and serve jello
1 container cool whip

Make each jello in a separate pan as directed. Combine the orange and lemon together and put in a bowl and refrigerate overnight. Add the cool whip and beat together until combined and smooth. If desired save a couple large scoops of cool whip to spread over top. Once combined refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

French Onion Potatoes

2 cubes salted butter
2 packages Lipton onion soup mix
6-8 medium potatoes

Melt the butter and whisk in the soup mix. In the meantime, dice up the potatoes after they've been washed, in to bite size pieces. Place the potatoes in a 9x13 inch pan and pour the butter mixture over the potatoes and mix until all the potatoes are coated. Bake at 375 for an hour or until potatoes are tender. Makes about 8 servings.

Homemade Won Tons

1 package Won Ton wrappers (I used Nasoya brand found in the produce section)
1 package cream cheese (softened)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder

Preheat oil on the stove or deep fryer. Make sure it is hot enough (read for heat specifications on the won ton package.) In the meantime, mix the cream cheese and garlic and onion powder together until smooth. You can add more garlic or onion powder to your liking if needed. Put a dollop of the cream cheese mixture in the middle of the won ton wrapper and fold in half. Wet the ends of the wrapper with either water or egg whites and press ends together with fingers or a fork. Deep fry until they start to turn golden. Pair with beef and broccoli and chow mein.

(Thank you Brianna Henderson for the idea!)

Homemade Chow Mein

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 TBSP brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2-3 TBSP vegetable oil
  • 3 (5.6 oz) packages refrigerated Yaki Soba noodles (found in the produce section of the grocery store.. usually the 3 packages are sold together in one 17oz. pack)
  • 2/3 cup chopped celery (chopped diagonally)
  • 1 medium-sized onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups chopped cabbage
In a small bowl combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and black pepper. Set aside.
Remove Yaki Soba from packages and discard included flavoring packets. Rinse noodles well, drain, and set aside.
Heat oil in a large wok or skillet. Add celery and onion and saute for about 1-2 minutes or until onions start to become soft and transparent. Add cabbage and saute an additional minute or so.
Toss Yaki Soba noodles and soy sauce mixture with the vegetables over medium-high heat for an additional 2-3 minutes or until noodles are heated through.
Pair with beef and broccoli and homemade won tons.

Creamy Buttermilk Syrup

1 cup sugar
1 cube salted butter
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla

First, combine the sugar, butter, and buttermilk in a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Remove from heat and add the soda and vanilla. Stir until mixed. Let cool then serve or refrigerate.

This syrup is amazing on pancakes, french toast, or my favorite, waffles. Click HERE to view the yummy waffle recipe. Enjoy!

Jalapeno Poppers

1 package cream cheese, softened
1 package bacon
8-12 jalapenos

Depending on how hot your want your jalapeno poppers, cut them in half and cut out the seeds and the membrane if you want them mild. If you want some kick leave some of the membrane. Spoon in cream cheese to fill the jalapeno. I usually cut the bacon in half and wrap each jalapeno with bacon. Cook for 15-20 minutes at 400. If they don't look crisp enough after that time broil them for a few more minutes until the bacon is crisp. This is a great appetizer or finger food for football games, game night, etc. Enjoy!

Garlic Rosemary Red Potatoes

4-5 red potatoes (washed)
Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
Salt & Pepper
Rosemary
Garlic (chopped finely)
1 yellow onion (chopped finely)
Garlic seasoning (optional)
Fresh parmesan cheese (optional)
Cut up potatoes into bit size pieces. Place potatoes in an oven safe casserole dish. Drizzle EVOO over top of the potatoes and mix around until it is even on potatoes. Salt and pepper. Add rosemary (as much or as little as you prefer.) Add garlic, onion, and garlic seasoning and again mix until spread evenly. Bake covered at 375 degrees for 40 minutes or until potatoes are done. Optional- sprinkle fresh parmesan cheese over top of the potatoes and cook for another 10 minutes.
These are super yummy potatoes that you can add to any meal as a side. Tip- make sure you salt them enough, they aren't as good when they aren't salted. Enjoy!
